Houzz Study | Majority of Home Renovation Professionals Regain Pre-Recession Revenues, Profits

We’re reading more and more good news about the home  industry!  Most recently, the Q2 2015 Houzz Renovation Barometer, which tracks confidence in the home renovation market among industry professionals, points to growing industry confidence being driven by widespread quarterly gains in inquiries, number and size of new projects .   Here’s a quick summary from a press release issued last week by Houzz, a leading platform for home remodeling and design:

Habersham Custom Designs

According to the Houzz  Q2 2015  Renovation Barometer, more than two-thirds of home renovation firms reported 2015 year-to-date revenues and profits to be at or above pre-recession levels, with one in five firms or more reporting revenues and profits to be significantly higher.

“A large majority of home renovation firms on Houzz report a return to pre-recession revenues and profits, irrespective of industry segment or firm size,” said Nino Sitchinava, principal economist at Houzz. “While industry confidence remains strong for the remainder of 2015, professionals tell us that the shortage of skilled labor continues to be a key challenge to growth.”

The Q2 2015 Barometer reflects steady optimism in market growth among professionals, with high index scores of 69* or higher in market confidence across all company types, in line with Q1 readings (71 or higher).

The Houzz Renovation Barometer study is conducted quarterly and presents analysis of responses to an online survey sent out to a national U.S. panel of architects, interior designers, general contractors/remodelers, design-build firms, and building/renovation and landscape/outdoor specialties.

Houzz Survey Says: Millennial Homeowners Are Active Renovators and Decorators; Kitchens Remain Most Popular Remodeling Project Across All Age Groups

Blind Side Kitchen ltn 542x332 Houzz Survey Says: Millennial Homeowners Are Active Renovators and Decorators; Kitchens Remain Most Popular Remodeling Project Across All Age Groups © 2009 Habersham HomeAccording to the fourth annual Houzz & Home survey, Millennial homeowners in the U.S. were just as likely to renovate their homes as other age groups in 2014.

The survey, which received more than 15,000 U.S. Millennial homeowner responses (ages 25- 34), revealed that a key motivation for renovation projects among Millennial homeowners is making a newly purchased home their own (55 percent), with one-third purchasing a new home in 2014 alone.

At Habersham, we know how important it is for our clients – of all generations — to create a home environment that is a true reflection of their own personality and sense of style. It’s why we focus so heavily on constantly fine-tuning and expanding our customization options and style features. The survey also indicated that kitchens continue to be the most popular interior remodeling project among all age groups, with nearly one-third of homeowners tackling this room in 2014.

Kitchen projects are certainly at the top of our list as well – both renovations and brand new construction.

The annual Houzz & Home survey is the largest survey of residential remodeling, building and decorating activity published. The 2015 study includes more than 260,000 respondents worldwide, providing insights into the home improvement activity of the more than 30 million monthly unique users of the Houzz site and mobile apps.

The Houzz & Home Survey was sent to registered users of Houzz and fielded in February-April 2015. For the full report, visit http://info.houzz.com/HH2015.html.

New ASID Research Confirms Full Recovery of Interior Design Industry

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently released its Interior Design 2015/2016 Outlook and State of the Industry and the news is good! As outlined in the association’s press release:2015 ASID Industry Outlook

“The Interior Design 2015/16 Outlook and State of the Industry report, produced by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Research, forecasts continued positive growth for the interior design industry, with several indicators suggesting that design has fully recovered from the recession of 2008. The number of designers and design firms is near or ahead of 2007 figures, and the dollar value of sales and product specified is at record levels. Billings and inquiries are up with positive expectations into next year, and that translates into a hot job market as firms of all sizes and design specialties intend to hire new employees. “

These results reinforce many of the conversations we’re having with our own designer clients this year – as many are reporting steady business and reports of new projects coming in. So remember, we’re here to help!

As one of the most designer friendly lines in the marketplace, we can offer countless custom furniture and cabinetry options to help you with your next project. Whether you’re working on a new kitchen project or a whole home renovation, we’ve got versatile finish options, furniture and cabinetry styles to meet the specialized needs of your discriminating clientele.  To learn more about the report, visit www.asid.org

June 2015 Featured Product | Catskill Media Cabinet

Habersham Catskill Media CabinetThis month we put a special product spotlight on our new Catskill Media Cabinet. Like some of our other popular designs, this one evolved out of a custom piece we crafted for a client.

With this design , we looked to some of the styles and characteristics that define the delightful Catskills region of Upstate New York, once one of the most popular resort destinations in the country.  Known for its beautiful woods, waterfalls, and hiking trails, the area, just 150 or so miles from  Manhattan,  has attracted artists, musicians, writers and other creative types who have second homes there.

From craftsman style homes to cozy cabins to other influences that complement the surrounding natural environment, we found great inspiration in the design lines and styles we found here.  And they’re reflected in this new piece, which is tailored to hold today’s slimmer plasma TV sizes, along with other practical storage features.

It features two upper bi-fold doors and three lower doors with six interior shelves. As with all our custom pieces, it’s available in your choice of finish options and sizes.  Visit the furniture section of our site to see more designs!
