For December we’ve chosen to highlight one of our newest designs, the Biltmore ® Louis XV Armoire.  Making its debut during the October 2011 High Point Market, this stately piece now joins others in our licensed Biltmore® Chateau Reserve Collection of copyrighted furniture designs.  With each piece, our design team has worked to  reflect the hospitality and gracious living that defined the acclaimed Asheville, NC estate at the turn of the century.

This particular copyrighted furniture design takes its inspiration from the many pieces and architectural elements found throughout the estate’s lovely  Louis XV Suite.  Restored to its original splendor, this suite offers visitors the first opportunity to fully see the house as a family home and the Vanderbilts as parents. The Louis XV Room itself is perhaps the true heart of Biltmore. It served as birthplace of George and Edith Vanderbilt’s only daughter, Cornelia, in 1900. Years later, it was where Cornelia delivered her own two sons, George Henry Vanderbilt Cecil and William Amherst Vanderbilt Cecil in 1925 and 1928, respectively.  To learn more about this amazing home , be sure to visit www.biltmore.com

This month’s featured product is our new American Treasures Bennington Coffee Table, shown here with our Aspen Cupboard.  We were thrilled to see that the editors of Home Accents Today chose the piece for the cover of their redesigned January 2011 issue!

July’s Featured Product is our Normandy Grand Monet Breakfront.

We launched our  licensed Claude Monet Collection in 2000 with a series of designs inspired by the Impressionist’s famed home in Giverny and the works he created during his time there. We have continued to add designs over the years reflecting the Giverny home, its furnishings, surroundings and other important works by Monet.   A number of pieces in the collection have also been inspired by environments, and the stunning paintings they inspired, during the artist’s extensive travels to the rugged Normandy Coast and parts of the Mediterranean during the late 1800s.  

During the  Spring  2010 High Point Market, we added a number of new designs to the collection, including  the Normandy Grand Monet Breakfront, shown here.  As an artist, Monet traveled extensively to find visual inspiration and it was the Normandy Coast that seemed to provide a true touchstone for his life and work. Shown in the Sandemar Multicolor Studio finish, this grand breakfront offers an ideal showplace for treasured accents.

During the  Spring 2010 High Point Market, we showcased our new Continental Kitchen Island design, shown here.  Taking its inspiration from the architectural elements, design motifs and styles that once defined the grand mansions, country homes and chateaus of France, Italy, Spain and other parts of the Mediterranean, this design brings together a worldly blend of hand-finished textures, fine design lines, meticulous detailing and a neutral palette.

Taking its name from a classic European architectural movement, the Palladian Bookcase evokes the symmetry and proportion of classical antiquity.   Inspired by the Chinoiserie looks that first gained popularity in mid-to-late 17^th century European interiors, the Habersham artisan team has decorated this piece with the fanciful , hand-painted Chinese imagery reflective of that era.

Also available without art — and in any of Habersham’s other hand-styled finish options — the bookcase includes nine drawers and two adjustable wood shelves in each of the top sections.  To meet your size and space needs, this piece may be customized.
