Habersham American Treasrues Harmony End TableDuring the April 2012 High Point Market #hpmkt, our newest introductions included the latest additions to our transitional American Treasures ® collection.  Featuring clean lines and simple classic styles, these made-to-order designs are crafted right here in the USA in our North Georgia design studios.

As reported on the High Point market site – www.highpointmarket.org – we were right on target.

“Design leaders at the High Point Market saw a continued push for Made in America and artisan or handmade looks. Editor at Large interviewed designers and exhibitors at the April Market to get their take on style directions. They also said we should look for more tailored and sleek designs in the future.”

Sleeper Hit: New Biltmore® Cornelia’s Cloister Bed

HABERSHAM Biltmore Cornelias Cloister Bed

Our new Biltmore ® Cornelia’s Cloister Bed was the  “Hit of High Point “ for us during the recent Spring 2012 Spring Market.  The reactions — gasps of surprise and delight from dealers and designers alike who visited our showroom during the home furnishings trade show – were  fun to watch as they rounded the corner into the room where this new piece was showcased.

The latest  addition to our  licensed Biltmore® Chateau Reserve Collection, this twin bed design was inspired by the Sheraton Room at Biltmore House in Asheville, NC.  The Cloister Bed is neoclassical in style and shares a headboard and canopy, creating a large-scale image of grandeur.

The wood is indicative of early 19th century architectural cloisters, where  covered walks in monasteries, colleges and cathedrals had one walled side and one open colonnade.   The piece is named for Cornelia Vanderbilt, only child of Biltmore’s visionary creator George Vanderbilt and his wife Edith. Cornelia grew up at Biltmore and was truly, as the estate’s website describes,  a “princess of a 250-room castle and its 8000-acre kingdom.”

Kitchen Trend Watch: Transitional Over Traditional

by Matt Eddy, CEO  |
March 12th, 2012

Habersham American Treasures Ciera Center Island 01-3750More than 350 National Kitchen & Bath Association member designers took part in the 2012 National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Design Trends Survey to cite the materials, product types, and styles that they’ve incorporated into their kitchen and bath designs over the final three months of 2011. While broad trends won’t be evident in every local market, the survey called out a number of overall trends for kitchens and baths across the United States and Canada.  Among them:

Transitional over Traditional

For the first time since the NKBA began tracking annual design trends, traditional is no longer the most popular type of design. In both the kitchen and the bathroom, transitional is now the most common style. While the traditional style has consistently been used by roughly three quarters of NKBA member designers in both the kitchen and the bath, that figure fell to 58% in kitchens and 59% in bathrooms this year.

These figures come in just below the transitional style, which is a blend of traditional and contemporary, typified by lines that are simpler than traditional, but a bit more elaborate than contemporary in order to create a modern classic look. Contemporary is the next most common style, up 5% to 52% in kitchens and up 10% to 53% in bathrooms from a year ago. Shaker, arts & crafts, and cottage remain the next most frequently used styles.

Here at Habersham we’re constantly fine-tuning our custom cabinetry capabilities to create kitchen and bath designs that truly reflect the design tastes and styles of our customers.  So whether you’re looking for transitional or traditional styles, we can help you create the space of your dreams.  Contact us today!
