Kitchen by The Blind Side for The Cliffs Model Home In upcoming weeks we’ll be posting a feature story on a fabulous model home that Diane Laskoski,  Founder, President and Senior Designer, The Blind Side Home Furnishings, Verona, PA,  designed  for Fairview Builders.  Diane and her firm handled  the interior design for this lovely home and they used Habersham throughout.

This stunning, sophisticated 4300-square-foot mountain style home is located at The Cliffs.  Nestled  between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC, the eight Cliffs Communities provide home and business owners with a lifestyle focused on wellness and tranquility.

We recently hosted an open house with Diane , the builder, our licensing partner, Biltmore Estate and representatives from Viking, provider of the kitchen appliances.  We had a wonderful turnout of interested and curious Cliffs lot owners, home owners and others throughout the area.  The feedback we received was extremely positive and we look forward to sharing the story of the home and Diane’s excellent design work. Check back soon!

Interior Design Billings On The Rise

by Karl Harte, Vice President of Sales  |
August 19th, 2014

Pages from ASID-IDBI-First-Quarter-Report-2014A recent article on editoratlarge.com recapped figures and findings from the American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) Interior Design Billings Index (IDBI) and the news is good!   The story reported on findings from the May edition of IDBI indicating that the recent slowing of the U.S. economy has not impaired the design sector, which came in at the highest it’s been since late 2010.

The story quoted Randy Fiser, CEO of ASID, saying “This is exciting news for designers across the country, as well as their clients. I believe this strong showing reflects a rise in the public’s awareness that professionally sourced, research-based interior design can improve our everyday lives. Changes in the design of hospitals, schools, homes, workplaces and other spaces in which we spend extended time can make us healthier, safer and happier. Research from several institutions, including ASID, has proven this to be true”

Editoratlarge.com reported that the May ASID IDBI of 65.9 is up sharply from 56 in April  – reflecting growing revenues. The uptick is evident in residential and public construction spending and paralleled April’s Census release on construction spending.  What’s more, all regions of the country showed growth and the near-term outlook is for steady gains.

Here at Habersham we are seeing similar results as the number of projects we work on with our valued interior designer partners continues to grow.  We are always seeking ways to improve the designer-friendly features of our line – from our custom capabilities to our finish options.  And we’re always looking for feedback on how we can help our designer clients grow their business with us. If you ever have thoughts and suggestions, let us hear from you.  And,  for more information on this report, as well as important happenings in the design industry, visit www.editoratlarge.com or www.asid.org

August 2014 Featured Product: Biltmore Overlook Arch Bookcase

by Karl Harte, Vice President of Sales  |
July 28th, 2014

64-2395 Biltmore Overlook Arch Bookcase in SeasprayFor August,  we’re putting a spotlight on one of our newest designs.  Making its debut during the Fall 2014 High Point Market, the Biltmore Overlook Arch Bookcase is one of our 10th Anniversary designs.

For 10 years the Chateau Reserve Collection, a collaboration between Biltmore and Habersham, has drawn its inspiration from the entertainment and hospitality that defined the landmark Asheville, NC estate at the turn of the century. The collection’s grand scale designs and accent furniture pieces reflect the art, architecture, hospitality and ambiance that George W. Vanderbilt cultivated for his estate.

Embodying the true spirit of our partnership, this piece was inspired by the beautiful arches and ironwork  in the library at the estate.  The arch design is complemented by an open, ornate grill on the doors below.  Show in Seaspray Multicolor with Antique Honey interior,  this piece can be customized to meet your needs.  The base is available as a sideboard design, too.

Defining Timeless Design

by Karl Harte, Vice President of Sales  |
April 29th, 2014

Habersham Dressing Room DesignsThe recent Spring 2014 High Point Market gave us the chance to meet with current and prospective clients from all over North America, as well as overseas.  The common theme that permeated each of these client meetings was a sense of excitement for classic and traditional styles, along with the realization that Habersham’s furniture and custom capabilities fit the timeless design needs for their projects better than any other manufacturer in the marketplace today.  But what defines a classic style and what makes something truly timeless?

Of course, the simple answer is that timeless design is not affected by the whims of the marketplace or the ever-changing, always evolving design trends and style directions.  There are other elements at play here, too.  Maybe it’s the traditional look, scale or construction of a piece of furniture. Or, perhaps it is a fresh interpretation of classic or traditional design elements.  Whatever the case,  it seems that truly timeless styles embody unique, quality design elements that blend seamlessly into a range of environments.

When it comes to Habersham, a client might choose one of our hand-styled finishes to fit the classical taste of a given project, while another would see a beautifully fitted room as a way to transition from their busy day to the refuge that was envisioned by their designer. Ultimately, every room of the home, and every part of a project, can have the custom, one-of-a-kind features that make a design timeless.
