PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2013 - 17-5641 EmeraldHere at Habersham, we love  tracking color and design trends.  We were delighted to read  that PANTONE, the global authority on color and provider of professional  color standards for the design industries, just announced PANTONE ® 17-5641, a lively, radiant, lush green, as the Color of the Year for 2013.  As detailed in their announcement press release:

The 2012 Color of the Year, PANTONE 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a spirited, reddish orange, provided the energy boost we needed to recharge and move forward. Emerald, a vivid, verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony.

Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity – no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

The release goes on highlight how emerald can enhance home interiors too:
Enhance your sense of well-being at home by rejuvenating the interior with Emerald paint, accents and accessories. This jewel-like hue will create a luxurious feel in an entryway, powder room, dining room or study, and bring life to a living room as an accent wall. Add a splash of color to the kitchen and dining room areas with Emerald dinnerware, stemware and appliances.

Habersham’s Newest Nesting Tables Tap Into Historical Furniture Design

by Joyce Eddy, Chairman of the Board  |
November 30th, 2012

Habersham Nesting Tables -- American Treasures 01-3330Thomas Sheraton, an English furniture designer, created the quartetto table during the 18th century. It was comprised of four stacking tables that graduated in size. They stored compactly together in a room until needed for needlepoint or checkers.

Today a set of nesting tables is composed of two or three stacking tables.  Among our newest designs is the American Treasures ® Nest of Tables, shown here.  This nest of tables features a sweeping arch perched panel designs on three sides creating a classic, contemporary look.  Shown in Antique White.

Habersham Biltmore® Vanderbilt Bed Debuts

64-5755 Habersham Biltmore Vanderbilt King BedDuring the Spring 2012 High Point Market, Habersham added a new bed design to its licensed Biltmore ® Chateau Reserve Collection — Cornelia’s Cloister Twin Bed– that was extremely well received by designers and dealers alike. In fact, clients liked the design and style so much that they suggested that Habersham consider creating a king version as well. They spoke, Habersham listened and the new Biltmore Vanderbilt King Bed made  its debut during the Fall 2012 High Point Market

Like the twin design, the new Vanderbilt King Bed was inspired by the Sheraton Room at Biltmore House.  Its headboard, footboard,  posts and canopy are neoclassical in style, creating a large-scale image of grandeur. The piece is named for Biltmore’s visionary creator George Vanderbilt and the twin style is named for his daughter, Cornelia.  Click here to see it and all the designs in our Biltmore ® Chateau Reserve Collection.

Habersham American Treasures Moderne Console TableOur American Treasures® Collection brings clean lines together with classic elements to create some lovely new looks.  Among the newest additions is the Moderne Console Table.

This decidedly modern design can lend a touch of casual, contemporary elegance to any décor.  Building upon the success of the Moderne designs launched during Spring 2012 market, this new piece reflects the same geometric design.  The term “Moderne” is an architectural term.  Sometimes referred to as “Style Moderne” or simply “modern”, it was a style of architecture that became popular in 1925 and by the 1960s, was called “Art Deco.” Available in countless finish options, this design is shown in Warm Silver.

Celebrate the Season with Biltmore®

Habersham Biltmore Louisa ChestI just received the Biltmore Style Fall/Holiday 2012 Catalog and enjoyed looking through pages filled with furniture and accessories inspired by the lifestyle, heritage and history of the legendary North Carolina Estate.  While it’s only August, it is fun to look through this holiday-themed catalog.

Of note, the Vanderbilts actually hosted the grand opening of Biltmore on Christmas Eve 1895 with a spectacular holiday display and decorations that the Estate continues to this day. Renowned for their entertaining and hospitality, George and Edith would go on to host many more wonderful gatherings at their home.

One of our designs, the Louisa Sideboard, which is featured in the catalog, was inspired by the Estate’s Louis XVI room, which was just one of the 34 guest rooms available to the couple’s party guests.  Click here to see other designs in our Biltmore collection.
